Gender in ICT research organisations
The project “A gender perspective on ICT research organizations and processes of change" is studying a group of related research organizations in the ICT field: two research institutes (SICS and Interactive Institute) and two Excellence Centers (Mobile Life and the Center for Networked Systems). The project is financed by VINNOVA.
The project approaches the problem from three different directions: bottom-up through recurring surveys, etc.; top-down by gathering people in leading positions in a training process in gender and gender equality; and from a gender science research perspective through a “doing gender" perspective on technology and organisation. The latter consists of Fredrik Sjögren's doctoral work at LTU.
Expected results are: knowledge and awareness of how gender affects ICT research; the creation of a foundation at the managerial level for gender and gender equality to be integrated perspectives in the business; and in a longer perspective an increased numerical gender equality and social sustainability.
The project is funded by VINNOVA and runs between 2008 and 2012. The research work will continue for another year until 2013.
