Voltage dip characteristics for improved fault-ride-through of wind-power installations
This project combines knowledge on power quality (specifically voltage dips) with knowledge of wind turbine
fault-ride-through. The project is a collaboration between Luleå University of Technology and Chalmers
University of Technology with input and receipt of results through an industrial reference group.
Luleå University of Technology contributes with models of voltage dips; Chalmers University of Technology with models of wind turbines. In the project, the models will be used to get further understanding of the fault-ride-through resistance of wind farms.
The project will lead to increased understanding of how different properties of voltage dips affect wind turbines and wind farms. Results from the project will allow various stakeholders to improve fault-ride-through of wind turbines, thus contributing to a more robust power system with large amounts of wind power. The results of the project will be distributed directly to the various stakeholders.
