About Luleå
Situated close to the Arctic Circle, Luleå enjoys 24 hours of daylight in June. Its location by the Bothnia Sea offers opportunities to relax in the archipelago or along the sandy beaches on the coast.
It is also easy to travel to the Scandinavian mountains, which provide great possibilities for hiking and trekking. There are several national parks, such as Abisko, which offer everything from short walks to multi-day treks. Abisko is also the starting (or ending) point for the King's Trail.
Luleå is home to a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Gammelstad Church Town, and about an hour's drive from the city center is the unique Treehotel in Harads. There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area, offering specialties like reindeer, a special type of whitefish roe, and cloudberries.
