The Aesthetic Substances Practice
In collaboration with University of Bergen/The Grieg Academy, a two-case study is being conducted focusing on the practice of aesthetic subjects in the first to sixth years of primary school.
Through ethnographic studies at a Norwegian and a Swedish primary school that claims to work actively with the aesthetic subjects, answers are sought to questions such as how the activity is conducted, how it is perceived by leaders, teachers and pupils and how it is mentioned among those involved. So far, the role of the principal has proved to be very important for the status and conditions of the subject. Themes that also emerge are inclusion, collaboration, integration, assessment, function, meaningful learning, and framework factors, national policies and cooperation with the local community. The study is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2014.
