SECURE - StormwatEr planning for inCreased Urban REsilience (2021-2023)
The purpose of SECURE (StormwatEr planning for inCreased Urban REsilience) is to, based on the needs of participating cities and the Swedish Transport Administration, in collaboration with actors from the entire value chain, develop new stormwater solutions with smart design and develop in-depth knowledge for further development of existing planning and analysis tools, for e.g. climate change adaptation in the built environment.
The goal is to contribute to solutions and tools that reduce the effects of climate change on our built environment, both nationally and internationally.
The work within SECURE will lead to both disruptive innovation and incremental development, primarily within the change dimensions New technology, products or processes; Rules and policies; Infrastructure and production systems; Culture and values. SECURE will contribute to several of the UN's sustainability goals, of which the most relevant for this call are SDG 11.5, 11.7, 11.B, 13.1, 13.2, and 13.3, but also SDG 5 and 10.
The work within SECURE is divided into 4 work packages; AP1 International comparison of design rainfall and return times; AP2 Stormwater solutions with smart field design and modelling; AP3 Impact of climate effects and design rainfall on dimensioning of stormwater facilities; and the effects of AP4 Climate effects and design rainfall on the built environment. The work in each work package is strongly linked to other work packages and will take place in close collaboration with the stakeholders. In several cases, work packages are based on results from previous work packages.
"SECURE - StormwatEr planning for inCreased Urban REsilience" is a project approved by Vinnova within the "Climate adaptation in the built environment" call. It is a 2-year research project carried out in collaboration with Tyréns, StormTac, Stockholm Water and Waste, the Swedish Transport Administration, and Swedish Water.
