Optimising recovery after surgery or acute illness
A number of interventions have been shown to influence patient recovery. Providing safe and secure care is a priority in healthcare, and it is important to understand the factors affecting recovery in order to improve the care provided.
As day surgery care for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery is becoming more common, the postoperative recovery of this group needs to be investigated. This can be done by describing patients' own experiences, as well as by investigating the factors that affect postoperative recovery. The overall aim of the project is to describe postoperative recovery in patients who have undergone orthopaedic day surgery.
