Promoting health and learning throughout life
Promoting health throughout the lifespan is based on a research-based perspective on the specific needs and conditions of different age groups. Supportive interventions throughout all phases of life – from childhood and adolescence to adulthood and old age – are important. The health-promoting approach, where health is more than the absence of disease, focuses on health-enhancing factors. Interventions in health promotion, tailored to age and life situation, can strengthen an individual's ability to take control of their own health.
The health-promoting perspective involves promoting, highlighting, making visible, and providing space for good health, regardless of whether the person suffers from illness or not. Health is also strongly intertwined with lifelong learning, in an era where we live longer and many older people gain more healthy years.
The research is conducted in interdisciplinary collaboration between various professions within and outside the university. The projects involve senior researchers, doctoral students, and advanced-level students at Luleå University of Technology.
