ChatPal - promoting youth mental health with AI technology
How can artificial intelligence (AI) be used to promote youth mental health and improve support for young people at risk of mental health problems?
In the ChatPal research and development project, researchers will develop and test a chatbot service that offers young people someone to chat with. The chatbot service is an app that is already available in a first version is free and available 24/7. The ChatPal app is based on research and proven experience in promoting mental health, and professionals and young people from Norrbotten are participating in its development.
The project has been supported by the Northern Periphery and Arctic Program and takes place in collaboration with Norrbotten's municipalities and Region Norrbotten.
The international partners are the University of Eastern Finland, Cork Institute of Technology, Ulster University and a number of actors in health care in Scotland, Finland and Northern Ireland.
Luleå University of Technology's professors Karolina Parding, Catrine Kostenius and Marcus Liwicki implement the project together with several colleagues from their respective research groups.
