The role of nature in health
Nature-based interventions have health-promoting properties, including increasing well-being, reducing stress and pain, promoting recovery from injury and illness, and empowerment.
Carrying out activities in a natural environment as intended in nature-based interventions with guidance from professionals with specific knowledge in the field can be a complement to other forms of health promotion interventions. In this research project, we intend to investigate the importance of nature-based interventions for people with stress-related illness. This in a northern context, especially in a winter environment and with the perspective of participants who test nature-based interventions. Public actors from health care services and entrepreneurs offering nature-based interventions have also participated.
The project is carried out within the framework of the Interreg Nord funded project Nordic NaBS (New Nordic Nature Based Service Models), which was carried out in collaboration with partners from northern Finland and northern Norway in the years 2019-2022.
