Care in the context of acute mental health problems in unaccompanied minors
Children and young people seeking asylum who arrive in Sweden without parents or other guardians, known as unaccompanied minors, are a particularly vulnerable group. Experiences before, during and after their flight to Sweden put them at risk of mental health problems.
In this project, we want to describe experiences of care for unaccompanied minors in connection with acute mental illness. Increased knowledge of the care that meets unaccompanied minors in acute mental illness can contribute to the development of care. Of particular interest is to understand how care can meet these young people in a way that respects and relates to their experiences of stressful and traumatizing events and their cultural background.
