Award of FORMAS funding: Closing the water cycle to increase Urban Resilience to Extreme Events (CUREE)
We are very happy to announce that our application to explore the role of stormwater in enhancing urban water security has been awarded funding by the Swedish Research Council Formas in the “Extreme weather: effects, measures and solutions for a long-term sustainable and resilient society” call!
Led by Professor Maria Viklander, this three-year 6 MSEK project will enable Urban Water researchers and consortium partner Norrvatten to develop new knowledge on stormwater use potentials from quality, quantity and stakeholder perspectives. Involving a combination of field work, desk-based monitoring and stakeholder interviews, CUREE will generate new data on urban water balances, the impact of urbanisation on receiving water quality, risk characterisation and risk mitigation from the perspective of using stormwater as an alternative water source.
