Nutrients in stormwater, 2023
Stormwater is often considered to be a major source of nutrients to urban surface waters; however, analyses of Swedish stormwaters for this reason are relatively few.
In a previous project, stormwater was sampled on seven occasions from three locations in the City of Umeå with different land use - a car park and two industrial areas. The stormwater samples have also been supplemented with base flow samples taken at the same locations during dry weather (in cases where there has been a baseflow in the pipes between rain events). In these samples, metals, microplastics and organic substances (phthalates, organotin, alkylphenols, PAHs, oil, etc.) were analysed. In this project, we will analyse nutrients in order to investigate the contribution of nutrients from stormwater in a Swedish context.
The project is funded by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and has a budget of 400 000 SEK.
